Weekly Steelers News and Rumors

  • While most expect Le'Veon Bell to be suspended for the first two games of the season, Mike Florio of  Pro Football Talk is reporting that Bell could be suspended for up to 4 games.  Obviously this would be horrible news for the Steelers and increases the necessity to find a strong backup for Bell this offseason.

  • Former Steeler Mike Wallace is interested in rejoining the Steelers, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.  It makes very little sense for the Steelers to entertain this idea.  Between the lack of cap space and the improvements shown by Bryant and Wheaton, the return of Wallace would be a detriment to the team's offseason plans.

  • Earlier this week the Marcus Gilbert restructured his deal with the team Mike Mitchell has done the same.  Markice Pouncey may be the next.  Given the team's cap issues, these types of moves were expected.  The problem, however, is that this will not fix the team's long term problems, it just delays them.  And the constant restructuring of deals is part of the cause of the team's cap concerns.

  • Jason Worilds plans on testing free agency, according to Scott Brown.  While it would be great to keep Worilds, he may be easier to replace than some of the other possible holes on the Steelers' roster.
